cheery little surprises

Bunion surgery complete. The bones in both my big toes cut in half, straightened & pins put in. Had the bump on the top of each big toe shaved off, as well as the bumps on the side. Sounds gross right? Ya, it sort of is. This was yesterday.

Today the pain has been off and on, battled off by pain pills. (I am fully prepared to admit to any & all humiliating things I have said/written/done while under the influence..as I am sure there has been plenty & will be more) The most difficult part so far, has been not being able to walk. Chris has had to carry me to the bathroom, bedroom, etc. He has been great, he even got me a chocolate shake today! However, he is extremely swamped at work...so busy, he can barely speak to me while he is at home working. He only looks up about once an hour "need anything? is it time for ice?" Poor kid, he has been working 7 days a week & barely sleeping. He even forgets to eat! Ahh, I hope he finds balance soon. I'm lucky he was able to work remotely from home to take care of me.

Today, while he was at work for a few hours, I was in a lot of pain and feeling pretty miserable. Our doorbell rang & look what showed up! Sweet Grandma Rita sent me this fruit basket. I just love her. She is always so thoughtful.
THEN the UPS man dropped a package off, and to my surprise Britney had sent me a surgery survival kit. check it out! She also included 5 cd's she burned for me. What an amazing friend.

My view at the moment...Chris- working working working in the kitchen... me & my club feet with ice packs stranded on the couch, I am the definition of sexy at the moment.I'm uncomfortable & in pain, but loved my little surprises today.
They have really cheered me up!

Surgery is no fun but hopefully you're getting enough pampering and spoilage to make it at least a little bit worth it! Hope you have a speedy recovery ;) ... ps add Charade to your old-movie-chick-flick marathon list Audrey Hepburn+Cary Grant= the best :)

Oh, Mari any type of mobility hindering surgery stinks. Here's to feeling better and good internet browsing and movie watching! Take care. We miss you up here btw.

not being able to walk would be so hard! How long are you supposed to not walk for? and poor chris, that is quite the schedule! I'm so glad you got sweet little packages to brighten your day. I hate being home alone even when I'm sick. So Boring! Get better!

oh no.
I hope you are doing well. I don't like not being to be able to do anything... and i can't imagine what it is doing to you. Sex and the city is the best and the book selection is amazing. Mari, you are really my twin.
Hope you feel better so you can go to fashion week.... AMAZING!

Poor baby! I am coming out n matter what Chris says. BTW the face Chris is making in the photo at the top of your blog is the same face he is making in that photo from when he was six weeks old. It's on my blog and FB. Look and see!

Aw man! That stinks. Devin had that SAME surgery about a year ago.

That looks like a wonderful survival kit, though! I hope you can find a way to enjoy the "relaxing" gimp role and milk it's for all it's worth -- despite the pain. Ouch!

Oh my word Mari. Dev only had one bunnion surgered off so far and I thought we were going to die with just the one. You are such a trooper. Maybe you can motivate him to do the other one.
