QUAKETY-QUAKE-QUAKE-QUAKERS!

MY FIRST EARTHQUAKE!! Thats right, I am no longer a virgin to the earthquake world....a 5.8 hit us here in Cali today & let me tell you, it was WEIRD!! I have to admit, I was prettttttty dang calm about during the quake but afterwards ANXIETY hit! I don't know why, it was over at that point. but I got all freaked out & i was still dizzy from everything swinging & shaking. I am told this was not a big quake by any means, nor was it long. Ha! IN MY WORLD- it was very long! At first, I didn't quite understand what was going on! Then it clicked, and the VERY FIRST THOUGHT "Finally! I've never been in one of these!" (lol..yes, I am amazing). SECOND THOUGHT- "Whoa, this feels crazy!" (captain obvious over here) & LAST THOUGHT "Umm, when does this end?!". Now, as proud of myself as I am I must confess, I am a failure to all my elementary school teachers, all those earthquake drills & I still didn't do what I was supposed to! How many times did that dang "earthquake" bell ring & we all jumped under our desks & slid our chairs in??? (which, by the way, is hilarious! when is the last time you heard about UT having a big earthquake?!) Anyway.. what do I do when it counts? Sit there, like a dumb-a* & watch it all happen, feeling like it was all in slow0-mo. (excuse the french) Like I said, FAILURE! But I am told we can expect THE BIG ONE within 5 years, so, alas, I will get my opportunity to redeem myself & prove that the public school system works!
Anyway, enough of my bs about the quake...it was crazy but I survived! I know, I know..there were no deaths...but I still like to say I survived an earthquake...give me a break, I AM FROM UTAH!

You are so funny. I'm glad you are ok. After every earthquake I freak out. I sleep on my parents floor in their room and I cry. I think I even get sick after them. You are totally normal for having a minor anxiety attack after an earthquake. Josh was really jealous that you got to feel an earthquake. He has never been in one either. He thinks he is cursed because he really wants to experience one.

How funny Mari... I'm glad you are ok and safe. Muntzing would be very disappointed you didn't get under something immediately.
hurray for experiencing an earthquake.

it's a good thing no fires started or you would have had to run back for your lemon drop! Do you remember that? How funny... ive still never been in a big earthquake, but when one hits we are toast because we live right above Timpview. Our house will slide down to the river! AH!

Mari, I am glad you were able to experience an earthquake. This sounds crazy, but when I heard you had one I got homesick and even a little bit jealous. It is an incredibly wierd feeling and afterwards when you know everyone is ok I always think how it was so cool. Yes I need help.

I know its weird, but I'm kinda jealous. It sounds like an adventure! As long as its small enough that is... And I love your comments on my blog, silly. So keep it up!

I totally thought of you when the earthquake hit! Can I tell you how freakin scared I am about "the big one?" I have 4 72 hour kits and everynight before I go to sleep, I go through the routine in my head of what I would do if one came at night. I'm a freak!

Mari! Dude! I was just looking at your head wraps and come on! Those are so hot! Why are you so genious? Wow. Long time no see. So you're in Cali? I'll bet you're not too far from Chelise.

That is way funny! I would probably react the exact same way! It's hilarious that our schools always made us do those drills! Blogs are great! It's fun to keep up with so many people! I'm sorry you've been without a husband lately! Mine is often gone hunting... blah... so I know the feeling a little too well! I go into a total independent mode!

That's funny Mari! I felt the exact same way the first time I felt an earthquake. I think it is a "rite of passage" for living in LA, so I was disappointed after each time there was an earthquake that I conveniently didn't feel.

I think you should reconsider using the first sentence of the Earthquake blog post. Now maybe I am an old timer but using that expression was considered nasty. Kind of like pimp used to be a bad word and now it means something entirely different. So if you are not talking about fruit, don't use the word cherry...I'm just saying...~ Linda/mom
