Today I had my 1st post-op check up. I walked into the office with the following symptoms:
sore/achy feet
burning toes (literally feeling like they are on fire)
more back pain than I've ever had
a tummy ache
sore throat (don't ask me why)

a headache
and a bad mood (if I'm being completely honest)
but not because I was at the doctor, it was due to lack of sleep and all of the above

They removed my bandages, and after 14 days of only seeing these pretty bad boys:
It was quite a difference seeing these, everyone, meet Frankenstein feet:Puffy, swollen, multi colored and just plain icky-poo-nassy.
The best part is, I LOOK like Frankenstein when i walk...my legs move slow and awkward haha, it's pretty funny actually. It takes me like 5min just to get to the bathroom.
The verdict:
I GET TO WALK MORE! YAHOO! I cannot even begin to explain how happy that makes me, true it is only 15min every 1-2hrs...but that is better than 15min a day! I'll take it!! My back has never heard better news. My right toe has shifted some :(, but nothing drastic-- it just may take longer to heal than my left foot. My feet are healing on schedule, I am still unable to drive (3 more weeks) and I still have to wear those awesome boots you saw above..BUT I can get off the couch, that freaking couch-ugh! Hallelujah.
So although all of my above symptoms are still around, I feel a little less depressed about it all. Now if I could just do something about how crappy I feel..ugh, this dang headache is going to be the end of me.
On a lighter note, I had a HUGE accomplishment today, something that had been driving me crazy for the entire 14 days, I'm serious--I am extremely happy & relieved to have finally accomplished this, it has been nagging at me every single day...
I made the bed!

Hang in there Mari. If it's any consolation, I bet you're the cutest Frankenstein I ever did see ;)
I can't imagine not being able to walk for 2 weeks. I would die!!! I hope you get more comfortable soon and that you can finally get some sleep. Your situation sounds pretty miserable, but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And, in just a few weeks you'll be in NYC!!! That should make you happy.
AW! This post made my feet hurt! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. At least it's winter(ish) and you're not watching everyone run and play outside right?
You poor thing...not being able to walk and sick on top of it all. I am so proud of you for going through with it though! They are going to be gorgeous feet again...just wait and see!
Aye, aye, aye you poor girl! I have been feeling so bad for you! maybe we can come out tomorrow or Sunday... actually when do you get to take a shower??? We will come out after that!
poor mari -- i didn't know you had foot troubles. i guess i was always too distracted by all your cool, sparkly shoes to notice.:) i hope you're feeling better now. you should rent a wheelchair or rascal or something so you can zip around the house and bug chris while he's working. are you able to work on all your crafty stuff?
Yay! Glad you are on the mend. I have to admit, though, that photo made me a little queasy. I have weakest stomach! :)
Hot, I especially love the surgical thread coming out of the right foot. Kidding!!! Oh my Mari, I am looking at all my high heel shoes in a whole new light now that I know what the price looks like. Poor thing. Keep your chin up, at least you are on the downward slope of the recovery process. Miss you (and your sparkly shoes)!
